Can bass fishing tournaments be good for the environment?

Possibly. The Bass Angler’s Sportsman Society, one of the largest tournament bodies in the United States, claims that part of its mission is to “educate fishermen about pollution, species preservation, and water quality management.” In my opinion encouraging outdoor activities and natural recreation is probably good for conservation, even if it does harm the fish.
