Can the bark from trees be used in paper manufacturing?

Yes it can, and is a common practice in some areas. The bark of the mulberry tree can be stripped and processed, and the yield is often converted into materials such as shopping bags. There is also a major bark-paper industry in Mexico, particularly in the Puebla region. The process involves taking the bark of several tree species, classified as either elms or mulberries, stripping the bark and boiling it in lime. Finally, the strips are arranged into a grid and pounded with a stone until the fibers intertwine.
