Can artificial trees take more carbon from the air than real trees?

Scientists have developed a synthetic tree that collects carbon about 1,000 times faster than a real tree. Each tree can absorb one ton of carbon dioxide a day, the equivalent of 20 cars on average. The tree would trap the co2 in a chamber, compress it and store it as a liquid for sequestration.
