Plants and animals are able to exist in the Great Pacific Garbage Patch – but that doesn’t mean they aren’t affected by the huge quantities of plastic pollution.  Animals tend to be more affected than plants, because they may ingest platic thinking it is is food, or become fatally entangled in plastic garbage.  The Great Garbage Patch encompasses an area of ocean about the size of Texas, and is a sobering reminder of the impact our consumption and disposal habits have on the planet.
