If heat energy is added or released from an element, it will change forms. there are 6 forms of matter: solid, liquid, gas, plasma, bose-einstein condensates, and fermionic condensates. the first 3 are the most prevalent. If enough heat energy is added to an element, it will change from a liquid to a gas. if enough heat energy is taken out of an element, it will change from a gas to a liquid to a solid.
