Because nicotine is most commonly introduced to the body through cigarettes, nicotine is often considered worse. The cigarette, being the vessel of the nicotine, wreaks havoc on the body. When smoked through a cigarette, about 1 mg of nicotine is incorporated into the smoker’s bloodstream. What people don’t realize is that nicotine is so deadly that 60 mg alone could kill a 160 pound person. In contrast, it would take about 10,000 mg of pure caffeine to kill a person. Because caffeine is a beverage, it is obviously less harmful to the body than a cigarette, but we do consume more of it in a single sitting.
