Is buying a bummer a form of patriotism?

Forgive me if I misunderstood your question; I interpreted it to mean “Is buying a Hummer (GM SUV) a form of patriotism.” Hummer trucks are bad for the environment, notoriously so (thus the nickname). None the less, GM has released several recent models. The Hummer H2 gets around 10 mpg while the H3 is rated at 16 mpg in-city. They are priced at around $50,000 which certainly doesn’t help folks still experiencing the recession. Sticking by old favorites because of brand loyalty isn’t patriotism, and neither is irresponsible spending on products that hurt the planet. Being green, as I see it, is the highest form of patriotism.
