Having green roofs and walls (I assume you mean green as in environmentally friendly and not the color green), can certainly contribute significantly to the environmental friendliness of a building. Improper insulation can lead to massive energy inefficiencies in terms of heating and cooling a building so having good walls and roofs helps contribute greatly to making a building green. However, the greenest type of building is the building that where ALL components are environmentally friendly. That includes the water, electrical, and heating and cooling system among other things.
