Yes. Among the Microsoft founder’s many charity projects, Bill Gates is working to advance sustainable agriculture in places like India and various African countries. In October 2009 the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation announced it was giving $120 million in grants to various specialized agencies who are trying to educate people in Africa and India on green practices such as soil rejuvenation crops, establishing local markets and even information-sharing measures such as a radio network to promote sustainable practices. Gates has also funded R&D programs in the realm of sustainable agriculture, such as a 2008 grant he made to the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel for research into sustainability practices.
