There are 17 species in the genus Python. The problem with detailing which species is the largest is that some of the reported lengths have not been confirmed. The Reticulated Python, the Indian Python, the African ROck Python, and the Amethystine Python are all in the group of the largest, reaching maximum lengths of approximately 30 feet. It is believed that the Reticulated Python is the largest in the world. However, the maximum verified length of a Reticulated Python is just over 28 feet.
