Other than the fact that their dirty and polluting to the environment, fossil fuels are also constrained by the fact that they’re non-renewable resources. There’s only a fixed amount of oil or natural gas in the ground, and if demand continues to rise, one day, we will run out. At that point, the price for fossil fuels will shoot up, hobbling industry and production. That’s why it’s important to transition towards renewable energy sources gradually so as to minimize our dependency on fossil fuels.
The biggest problem with fossil fuels is that they can run out. That is why developing renewable resources is so important.
