Yes, by virtue of the sheer scale at which it is produced. Massive farms raise cows, which is extremely water and energy intensive. Cows require lots of grain and corn to be fed, and they are usually barraged with antibiotics and hormones as well. Cow flatulence produces methane, a much more potent greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide. Some beef can be produced in a more environmentally friendly way, if they are raised on organic grains and not given antibiotics. Nevertheless, the water and energy used is still significant.
