Is bamboo in the United States raised sustainably?

There are no American suppliers of bamboo that grow bamboo in the US for commercial use, so bamboo used in flooring applications is imported from Asia.  Aside from the high transportation costs (and the carbon emissions thereof), bamboo is grown without the use of pesticides or fertilizers, and it grows at a very fast rate and consequently sequesters carbon dioxide, which is good for the environment.
