I would argue that Ze o Ze shoes are friendly to the environment in concept if nothing else. They offer individuals the freedom to swap components of their shoes in order to create a different look. This can have very large ramifications if the big shoe brands adopt a similar strategy. Rather than buying 5 or 6 unique pairs of shoes, people would be able to buy 5 or 6 smaller components to shoes, thus reducing the number of shoes needing to be purchased. This would change the supply and demand for shoes, and could slow down the production of shoes on a global level.
