No, yaks are about half the size of beef cows found in this country. Adult Yak cows range in weight from 600 to 700 pounds and stand 4.5 feet at the shoulders, however Yak bulls are comparable in size to the beef cow ranging from 1200 to 1400 pounds and stand 5.5 feet at the shoulders. Today the average cow in the U.S. weighs 1350 pounds.
