African Wild Dogs are part of the Canidae family which includes, wolves, coyotes, foxes, etc.  Wild Dogs, Lycaon pictus, are also known as painted wolf or Cape hunting dogs.  The dogs are critically endangered with only 3,000-5,000 left in about eight areas:  Botswana, Zambia, Tanzania, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Senegal, Namibia, and possibly Kenya.  Often they are mistaken for hyenas.
