Are we still trying to develop algae as a good biofuel?

2012 could be a big year for algae. The San Diego Center for Algae Biotechnology believes that they may have found the perfect formula and may have the first algae powered car this year. The material these scientists have created has the exact same molecular structure as oil from fossil fuels. This could be a huge breakthrough in the alterative energy market and could be a truly renewable source of energy. Algae can be produced in a lab and can grow on its own without having to take it out of lakes and oceans and disturb ecosystems. Algae may be the way of the future!
