Not necessarily. A green economy is one whose income and employment growth are fueled by public and private investments in environmental/resource conservation and preservation. Recently, the House voted to restrict the government’s authority to regulate GHG emissions. Conservatives strongly oppose increased government spending to fund the low carbon usage, resource efficiency, and socially inclusiveness that mark a green economy. A green economy allocates a certain amount of federal spending to support green initiatives, and makes environmental issues a priority on the public agenda.
In light of the current political spirit, it will likely be some time before we establish a truly green economy.
