Looks like they are not.
Water lilies are in the Nymphaeaceae, which includes the ~70 species of water lily. Lilies on land, on the other hand, are in the family Liliaceae, which contains the ~110 species of lilies on land. I have no good answer for why they share a similar common name, but to me they don’t even actually look that similar, as flowers go.
