Vultures can be pretty darn big. They can average a wingspan of around 6 feet. In comparison, Bald Eagles can have a wingspan from 6 to 7 feet, but vultures are bigger than most hawks.

The largest vulture species is the Andean Condor measuring in with a wingspan of between 9.2 – 10.5 ft and weighing 24 to 33 lbs.  These measurements make the Andean Condor one of the largest bird of prey.  I would answer yes, the average vulture is bigger than most birds of prey.
