No. The reason environmentalists encourage people to buy locally-grown food isn’t because it’s more nutritious, but because food grown in Asia has to be shipped to the U.S., and that shipping burns fuel and creates pollution. Also, for food from Asia to make it to the U.S., it must be preserved somehow. Depending on the method used, the preservatives in the food may be less healthy than the food, so the process of shipping causes the food to become less nutritious, even though there wasn’t anything inherently wrong with it.
