I won’t say it is very popular yet, only about 1% of Americans consider themselves vegans. But veganism is gaining more mainstream attention every year. In 2011, more than half of the 1500 chefs surveyed by the National Restaurant Association included vegan dishes as a rising trend. Most supermarkets now sell tofu, tempeh and vegan version of products. I’ve noticed that the news media and blogs, during Thanksgiving, Christmas are featuring vegetarian or veganism recipes and discussing about meat-free options.
