Are trees the only thing in nature that will absorb carbon?

Carbon is absorbed not only by trees but also every other plant and organism that uses carbon dioxide gas for photosynthesis; including but not limited to algae and some bacteria.  Through photosynthesis the carbon dioxide is turned into oxygen.  The ocean and soil are also things in nature that absorb carbon dioxide.  Because climate change overloads these systems, we can do our part to help these natural processes continue to flourish rather than flounder by being as eco-conscious as possible.
