They certainly can be. Treehugger ran an article about Michelin’s greenwashing ad campaign for their so-called eco-tire. It used lots of computer-generated imagery to paint a picture of a fancy, high-tech eco-friendly future that could be achieved by using their tires. However, nowhere on the website could readers find any information beyond buzzword technobabble that could corroborate the company’s claim that their tires were better for the environment!
