Are the thin film solar cells that you can print on paper very efficient?

Unfortunately they are not as efficient compared to the larger silicon based solar cells.  At this point they only have an efficiency of about 20%, compared to the record 42.8% of photovoltaic cells.  However, the fact that they use less materials and have a wider potential range of uses is extremely good.  The military has made tents with the more flexible thin solar cells so that soldiers can charge their electronic devices in the middle of nowhere.  The efficiency is only expected to increase, so it is good to have the cells with more potential uses.
