A nonbinding agreement has been made to remove 2 of the 4 hydroelectric dams in the Klamath River, beginning in the year 2020. The Irongate, Copco dam and the John C. Boyle dam would be removed with the possibility of removing dams 3 and 4 later. However, the federal government still has to reach a final binding decision as to whether the benefits of removing the dams would justify the cost.
