Are there tornadoes that are made of fire?

Yes, and a fascinating and deadly subject they are! During the course of a fire, temperature and pressure and other environmental factors that can be attributed to the fire and conditions prevalent at the time may occasionally cause air to travel in an upward vortex, taking up fire with it and creating what is known as a fire whirl, a fire devil, or a fire tornado. These can be extremely deadly, as in the case of a fire in Kanto, Japan, where a massive fire tornado killed 38,000 people within 15 minutes.
