While numerous species act as natural predators of the mosquito, the dragonfly seems to be the closest thing to a “mosquito eater”. Dragonflies can eat mosquitoes at all points of their lives and have been scientifically proven to be useful in controlling mosquito populations.
The Crane fly is often mistakenly called a mosquito eater, but this insect does not feed on mosquitoes and only eats nectar. A species of Mosquito Toxorhynchites does feed on the larvae of other mosquitoes. Mosquito Fish are often called Mosquito eaters and feed on mosquito larvae.
