Are there plants that respond well to human urine?

A little urea is very good for plants – it is a fertilizer that many farmers put on their crops as a source of nitrogen. However, as with most chemicals, toxicity is related to the concentration. It will only well work as a fertilizer if it isn’t concentrated.

A new study out of Finland also found that human urine works well as a fertilizer for tomatoes – it produced 4.2 times more fruit than plants without the urine. The urine-fertilized tomatoes had more beta-carotene than unfertilized ones, and much more protein than traditionally fertilized plants.
