Are there rainforests in Africa?

Yes, there are rainforests in Africa. These rainforests exist in the Congo river basin in eastern Africa. The Congo rainforest is especially known for its gorillas, chimpanzees, and elephants.
On the other side of Africa, deforestation, construction, and biomass burning have erased about 90% of West Africa’s rainforests. Yet there is hope that the Congo rainforest will survive land use changes; in 1999 the six countries of the Congo River Basin vowed to take steps to preserve the Congo rainforest.
