There are oysters off of the coast of California, but not in many areas. They are mostly found in Tomales Bay and Drake’s bay. There were billions of oysters in the San Francisco bay in the 1850s, but they were gone by the 1860s. Now the waters of the San Francisco bay are too polluted for oysters to grow. There is also a very minimal amount of oysters found in small bays in southern California, but the northern California bays are the only areas where significant amounts of oysters can still be farmed.
