Are there more rivers than lakes?

The exact numbers are unknown because they are hard to determine.

Depending on what is counted as a lake, there are about 1.25 million lakes if only larger lakes that are present all year long, completely surrounded by land, and are not man-made. Including smaller lakes, this number increases by 7.2 million, which means that there are approximately 8.5 million lakes around the world.

The approximate number of rivers in the world is nearly 1 million, but this number only includes major rivers.
