Are there more tigers in captivity than in the wild?

Yes, the World Wildlife Federation (WWF) estimates that there are only about 3,200 tigers left in the wild. The WWF also estimates that there are around 5,000 tigers in captivity in the US alone, not including the rest of the world. That number includes both Zoo owned tigers and privately owned tigers (either legal or illegal).
