It depends–when was the last time you cleaned your sink? If you have dishes sitting in it with food scraps, then it’s probably almost as germy as your trash. I would recommend washing your sink out every time you do the dishes, which should be daily, to get rid of a lot of the germs.
There is a lot more bacteria in your sink than on your trashcan. Your trash is lined by a bag, and while you do touch it frequently, most of the contents never actually touch the can. The kitchen sink drain can have 17,000 bacteria per square inch and the faucet handle can have 13,000. The trash can only has 411 bacteria per square inch.
