Are there more bumblebees than honey bees?

There are definitely more species of bumble bees than there are of honey bees.  Bumble bees have over 250 known species where as honey bees only have 7 known species and 44 subspecies.  Both honey bees and bumble bees are in danger of habitat loss.  In recent years, there have been alarmingly decreased numbers of honey bees to the point of media describing them as ‘mysteriously disappearing.’  The decline in numbers of bumble bees has received less attention.
