There are mirrors for bikes; whether or not it makes them safer depends on what you’re using the bike for. Bikers who ride through the cold benefit from bike mirrors because they are usually too bundled up to turn and look at the traffic behind them. If you use a bike for commuting, mirrors serve the same safety benefits as the mirrors on your car; they allow you to look behind you quickly while only diverting a minimal amount of attention from the road in front of you. If you are using the bike for sport, such as mountain biking, mirrors are probably not a good idea because they are likely to break.
