Most pumas are found in south western British Columbia where there are about 3,500-5,000 pumas. In Alberta it is estimated there are about 700. There are reports of puma sightings in other regions, but not a steady, significant population or presence exists.

Pumas inhabit the western parts of Canada, mainly the British Colombia and Alberta provinces. In the 1990s, there were 3500-5000 pumas in Canada. This species of cat also lives in the United States, Central and South America.
