Are there a lot of buffalo in Colorado?

Not a lot, but there are some. The American bison all but disappeared from Colorado in the eighteenth century, but in 2007, sixteen bison were reintroduced to a special wildlife refuge in the state. The refuge, the 1,400-acre former Rocky Mountain Arsenal (a weapons-manufacturing plant), appears to be working out for the bison so far. But their numbers in the state are not expected to rise sharply any time soon.
