Are there laws against hunting striped hyenas?

It is illegal to hunt any endangered animal and the Striped Hyena is on the endangered species list. The Striped Hyena is often hunted because it is considered to be dangerous by some tribes and sometimes eats members of farmers herds. Some parts of the animal are also considered by some to be magical and are used for charms by Egyptian mystics. Even though it is technically illegal to kill these animals, they are still poached often and their numbers are dwindling. It is believed there are less than 10,000 Striped Hyenas scattered across the African continent.
