There actually do not appear to be increasing cases of carpal tunnel syndrom from high keyboard use, and in fact, the risk is much higher among individuals engaged in heavy labor, the fish and meat packing industry, and airplane assemblage. Though over 10% of computer users complain of carpal tunnel syndrome symptoms, there is no strong evidence linking the two. Obesity, lack of fitness, and pregnancy are also major factors in development of the syndrome.
