PETA does use mostly women in their somewhat racy ads to spread awareness of animal cruelty. However, their new campaign “Ink, Not Mink” has a surprising couple of athletes to help this time. The campaign pictures former basketball player Dennis Rodman and Amar’e Stoudemire of the Phoenix Suns and their tattoos. Rodman is also part of PETA’s “Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur” celebrity series.
Chad Ocho Cinco, Tony Gonzalez, Willis McGahee, Mario, Duff McKagan and others.
Like emc said, PETA typically uses females to advertise their major campaigns (we are the prettier species, right?) but they have started to increase the number of males they use for various events and advertisements.
Check out their blog: http://www.peta.org/b/thepetafiles/archive/tags/naked/default.aspx to see PETA’s Meat’s Not Green campaign in Vegas. They had a few willing vegan, male passerbys who were willing to strip down on the Strip to support PETA.
