Yes. Genetically modified organisms are quite prevalent in the US. Chemical leader Monsanto leads the US market for GMO corn with 17 million acres planted in 2007. And in 2008 the US had 62.5 million hectars planted in biotech crops.
Yes, there are GMOs in the United States. GMO ingredients are in approximately 60-70% of the foods in the US. There has been, and currently is, a movement to ban them. Mendocino County in northern California in 2004 became the first and most prominent region to ban GMO technology from its fields.
