A company called Honeywell has been working on military jets that run on biofuel since 2007. Their UOP branch that covers this project uses oil from the camelina plant to make fuel, which at present is blended about 50-50 with petroleum fuel for much improved efficiency. The camelina plant is considered especially good from a sustainability standpoint, because it grows where other plants cannot and do no take up as much land or water as other biodiesel fuels. They demonstrated their fuel on a Boeing 747 on November 23, 2009.
