Are there different types of Hemlock shrubs that can be grown in Ohio?

I saw what I thought was an evergreen shrub at a garden tour and was told it was hemlock. The plant was a soft needled airy plant-beautiful. I would like to use as a natural barrier between two properties. Thanks

The two types of hemlock shrub are water hemlock and poison hemlock; as the name shows, both of these are highly poisonous plants that can cause a very painful death.

There is also the evergreen hemlock, or Eastern Hemlock, which is a tree type that grows very tall, but is very hardy.

Personally, I would recommend the evergreen, as it isn’t poisonous. Hope this helps!
