Oh yes! Like most vegetation, there are many different varieties of one kind (think Cactus)…this is especially true for crops that have been modified by humans for many generations to favor various traits: drought resistant, taste, color, etc.
Ever had blue corn tortilla chips? Those come from a different kind of corn, Blue corn. Popcorn is another variety. There are also different types of yellow corn, one is sweet and most known for it’s delicious taste and it’s place on the table in the summer months– another isn’t as sweet, but more grainy and used in Animal feeds and for corn syrups.
