Are there different species of wild turkeys?

It appears that there is only one species of wild turkey. In fact, the domestic turkey is the only other species of turkey. There are, however, several subspecies of wild turkeys: Eastern wild, Florida or Osceola, Rio Grande, Merriam’s, Gould’s, and South Mexican. These subspecies have different ranges as well as slight differences in coloration.
