Yes, there are 3 species of raccoon. The most common is the Common Raccoon (a.k.a. the Northern Raccoon), which is originally found in Southern Canada to Southern Mexico. The other two are the Tres Marias Raccoon (P. insularis), from Tres Marías islands near Mexico, and the Crab-eating Raccoon (P. cancrivorus) from tropical Central and South America.
