Are there crops that are grown in deserts?

Crops are not grown in deserts on a large scale like you see corn growing in the Midwest. However, there are some plants that grow in deserts that can be harvested for profit. These include figs, oranges, olives, and thyme (though all of these “crops” are commercially farmed in places outside the desert).

    Short answer: Not really.
