Are there any wood fired power plants in America?

    Yes, but they are known as biomass power plants. That isn’t to say that all biomass power plants burn wood, as “biomass” can refer other types of waste such as  plants, garbage, landfill gases, and alcohol fuels. Woody biomass power plants burn wood scraps leftover from logging or agriculture and are found in several states, mainly where logging is prevalent.

      Ninjarika is correct. I know in NH we have several biomass burning plants that account for about 4% of our energy portfolio. They primarily burn wood scraps but they also burn a variety of other bio-waste products.
