There are 12 species of wild cattle in the world, but most have already been domesticated and others have been hunted to extinction. The Domestic cow, Bos primigenius, are the billions you seen in dairy farms all over world, however their ancestors died out by 1627. Unfortunately, the only wild cattle still active in America is the American Bison, Bison bison (but only in small fragmented groups).
